VCritical launched in September 2008 as a source of technical information and commentary on virtualization and related management technologies.

A word from Eric Gray, VCritical creator

I have been in Silicon Valley since 1996, having worked in a variety of capacities, from dot-com startup to datacenter managed-services provider to corporate IT management. Prior to that I was a Russian linguist, serving in the U.S. Army Military Intelligence — which is where I got my start with technology.
In 2005 I joined VMware — but I’ve been a huge fan of their virtualization technology long before that! Initially my focus was on vCenter Server supportability (back then we called it VirtualCenter) as a member of the Product Support Engineering group. In that role I did interesting things like support beta customers, functional spec reviews, and bug triage.
Every company has a team of people investigating the industry, keeping an eye on competitors, and scrutinizing their claims. In mid-2008 I had the opportunity to join the VMware team that does just that. It’s been fascinating and requires plenty of time in the lab installing and experimenting with vSphere and competing products. Don’t believe everything you read out there.
Conference Highlights
I’ve had the opportunity to speak at several VMware conferences, including:
- VMworld 2006
- VMworld 2007
- TSX Sydney 2007
- VMworld 2009
- VMworld 2010

Blog Technical Specs
VCritical is powered by WordPress and uses the Tarski theme.
I highly recommend WebFaction hosting; it is far superior to the two previous hosts I have used for VCritical. It costs a little bit more, but you get what you pay for.
