Hello, SCVMM 2008 R2

Last month, I wrote about the System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2 (SCVMM) release date, hinting that the release may actually be less than 60 days after Hyper-V R2, as initially guided by Microsoft.  Sure enough, today the System Center team announced that the product will be available for volume license customers starting October 1. I’m not going to try and explain the difference between the various MSFT availability dates — RTM, volume license, GA, etc. — because I can’t.

Just one week before VMworld 2009 — quelle coïncidence!

Eric, I’m starting to get concerned about you. Are you losing your edge, or feeling under the weather? Your last two posts about us have been decidely less snarky than normal, and even a little lacking in substance. Everything OK? :)

Thank you for your concern, Stu. You might just think of this as the calm before the storm. ;-)
